Berlin Intermediate School (BIS), located in Berlin, Maryland,
accommodates students from farms, small towns, and the large summer
resort of Ocean City. Our 4th, 5th and 6th grade students are members of
academic teams: Hammerheads, Leopard Sharks, Tiger Sharks, Macos,
Marlins, Sailfish and Terrapins. As a result of our environmental
initiatives, our school has been recognized by the Governor as a model
Maryland Green School. BIS received the top award for Energy Efficiency
in the county in 2013 through 2015. BIS, an Arts Immersion School, has
been recognized as a Kennedy Center National School of Excellence in
Arts Education. Over 30 after school clubs are offered to all students.
An After School Academy provides academic and arts programs for our 4th,
5th and 6th grade students. The students in our performing arts
programs present musicals at least two times a year. Our school motto is
"Believe, Imagine, Succeed."
The mission of Worcester County Northern Schools, a diverse and
growing community, is to provide a rigorous, sequential, and balanced
curriculum for all students to become responsible life-long learners.
This will be accomplished through instructional excellence in
partnership with family and community in a safe, caring, and
well-maintained environment. We will recognize the uniqueness of each
student's role as a productive citizen in an ever-changing world.
